Sumner County residents who want to vote in the Nov. 3 general election must register by the end of the day Monday, Oct. 5.
The Sumner County Election Commission lists races for governor, U.S. Senate, U.S. House Districts 6 and 7, and Tennessee House Districts 35, 44 and 45 on the ballot. Hendersonville voters will also choose aldermen in Wards 1 through 6.
Three proposed amendments to the Tennessee Constitution will also appear on the ballot, covering bail reform, a ban on a state property tax and crime victims' rights, according to WSMV.
How to register
Eligible voters must be at least 18, U.S. citizens and Tennessee residents, according to the Nashville Banner. Registration can be completed online or by mail. A printed form must be postmarked or hand-delivered to the county election office by the deadline.
The election commission office is at 1019 Union School Road in Gallatin. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The phone number is 615-452-1456.
Early voting
Early voting runs Wednesday, Oct. 14, through Thursday, Oct. 29. The Hendersonville location is Community Church of Hendersonville, 381 West Main St. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, with Saturday hours of 9 a.m. to noon on Oct. 17 and Oct. 24.
A second full-schedule site operates at Hartsville Pike Church of Christ, 744 Hartsville Pike in Gallatin, with the same hours.
Satellite locations open for shorter windows across the county:
- Portland Public Library: Monday, Oct. 19, and Tuesday, Oct. 20
- Westmoreland "Old" Elementary: Wednesday, Oct. 21
- Church of the Nazarene (GoodNAZ) in Goodlettsville: Thursday, Oct. 22, and Friday, Oct. 23
- White House Recreation Center: Monday, Oct. 26, and Tuesday, Oct. 27
All satellite sites are open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
What to bring
Voters must present a Tennessee or federally issued photo ID to vote in person. The deadline to request and mail an absentee ballot is Saturday, Oct. 24.
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3. Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Voters must cast ballots at their assigned precinct on Election Day.
