Hendersonville Parks & Recreation will host a free trick-or-treat night at Drakes Creek Park on Friday, Oct. 30, with candy, games and prizes for costumed kids from 6 to 8 p.m.
Booths will line fields 2 through 5 at the park, located at 131 Conway Twitty Lane, according to the department's event page. Children in costume can move from booth to booth collecting treats and playing games. The department describes the evening as a night of trick-or-treating with prizes mixed in alongside the candy.
Andy Gilley, Hendersonville Parks & Recreation director, oversees the department staging the event. Natalie Lankster, the department's special events program supervisor, is coordinating logistics.
Businesses and organizations that want to set up a booth can register for $25, Sumner County Source reported. Registration opened Aug. 14 and closes Thursday, Oct. 29. That leaves roughly three weeks for groups still interested in claiming a spot.
Registration can be completed online or in person at the Hendersonville Parks office at 101 Maple Drive N. The office phone number is (615) 822-3898.
The Drakes Creek event gives Hendersonville families a city-run Halloween option this October. The Camel Express Haunted Car Wash also opened Oct. 16 for the season.
Families do not need to register or buy tickets. Show up in costume and bring a bag for candy.
