The Beech Buccaneers blanked Hunters Lane 45-0 on Friday, Sept. 25, claiming their first Region 6-5A victory and extending their winning streak to five games.
The shutout at Shackle Island Stadium improved Beech to 5-1 on the season, Main Street Media of Tennessee reported. Hunters Lane dropped to 0-5 and has now lost 15 straight dating to last season, according to MaxPreps.
For head coach Anthony Crabtree, the win adds to a career that crossed 200 victories just one week earlier. Crabtree reached that milestone with a 42-19 homecoming win over Upperman on Sept. 18, as Main Street Media reported. His 22 seasons leading the Buccaneers include state championships in 2009 and 2012.
"I've been extremely blessed here," Crabtree told Main Street Media after the Upperman win. "This is 22 years in the same place. I don't think that happens very often these days."
The Buccaneers have been dominant since their lone loss this season. They outscored opponents by an average of 20.8 points per game during their four-game streak entering the Hunters Lane contest, then piled on 45 more in the shutout.
Through six weeks, Beech has posted wins over Mt. Juliet (53-21), Henry County (27-0), East Nashville (35-34), Upperman (42-19) and Hunters Lane (45-0).
As we reported Sept. 23, Beech entered the week as the top team among Hendersonville-area programs. The shutout reinforces that standing heading into the second half of the season.
Elsewhere in Sumner County on Friday, Hendersonville rolled Portland 56-8, Gallatin edged Station Camp 31-28, Liberty Creek topped Greenbrier 34-14, White House beat Glencliff 37-6 and Father Ryan defeated Pope John Paul II 21-6, according to Blaine Kellar of Main Street Media.
Beech faces Region 6-5A rival Station Camp at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2.
