Hendersonville can take a commanding position in Region 6-5A when the Commandos travel to Station Camp in Week 9.
The Commandos (5-2, 2-0 Region 6-5A) have won three straight games heading into the matchup against the Bison (2-5, 0-1 Region 6-5A). A win would push Hendersonville to 3-0 in region play and tighten its grip on a top playoff seed.
Both teams enter rested after Week 8 byes.
Hendersonville closed out the pre-bye stretch with a 14-7 win over Summit on Oct. 2, holding the Spartans to 21 yards of offense in the second half, according to Main Street Media. Before that, the Commandos beat Portland 56-8 on Sept. 25 and routed Hunters Lane 49-20 on Sept. 18 to open region play.
Station Camp is searching for its first region win after a 52-35 loss to Beech on Oct. 2. The Bison were without an estimated 11 starters in that game, Station Camp coach Chris Bain told Main Street Media.
Beech, Gallatin meet at 6-1
Across Sumner County, Beech (6-1, 2-0 Region 6-5A) travels to Gallatin (6-1) in a non-region rivalry game. Beech plays in Class 5A while Gallatin competes in Class 6A, so the result carries no direct playoff implications for either team.
The Buccaneers have won six straight since a season-opening loss. They piled up 416 rushing yards in their last outing, a 52-35 win over Station Camp on Oct. 2.
Running back Devin Crutcher carried for 177 yards and three touchdowns in that game. DK Williams added 117 yards and two scores after halftime. Four-star junior Jeramy Laster Jr. sealed the win with two fourth-quarter touchdowns, including an 18-yard run.
Offensive tackle London Parks, a 6-foot-3, 275-pound SEMO commitment, anchored the line. The Buccaneers ran 20 times to Station Camp's one offensive snap in the third quarter, controlling possession after trailing 28-21 late in the first half.
"I tell you: I'm gonna lay down for a second … I'm just gonna live life and take a break and then come back ready for Gallatin," Parks told Main Street Preps after the Station Camp win on Oct. 3.
Coach Anthony Crabtree has compiled a 200-68 record over 22 seasons at Beech, including state championships in 2009 and 2012. He said after the Station Camp game that the bye came at the right time, with the Buccaneers needing to heal before facing Gallatin.
Gallatin opened the season 5-0 for the first time since 2019 before Mt. Juliet handed the Green Wave a 26-10 loss on Thursday, Oct. 1, in a Region 4-6A game.
The two programs have history. Beech and Gallatin met for the 2019 Region 6-5A championship at Shackle Island Stadium, according to Main Street Media. Realignment has since placed them in different classifications, but the rivalry remains.
