Hendersonville's girls soccer team fell 2-1 at Gallatin on Thursday, Oct. 15, just six days after the Commandos had blanked the Green Wave 3-0.
Gallatin forward Sawyer Cooper scored a goal and added an assist to lead the comeback result, according to MaxPreps. The Tennessean named Cooper one of Nashville's Week 9 top performers after she tallied five goals for the week, including the one against Hendersonville.
The loss dropped head coach D. Woodard's Commandos to 9-4-1 overall. Hendersonville entered the game ranked No. 21 in Tennessee and held a perfect 5-0 district record, good for first place. The Commandos had controlled the rivalry in recent meetings, including the Oct. 9 shutout at home.
That Oct. 9 win looked like a statement. Hendersonville scored three unanswered goals against Gallatin in a dominant performance, according to Main Street Media. Thursday's rematch told a different story.
Head coach Greg Harper's Green Wave improved to 11-3-3 on the season and extended their home winning streak to four games. Gallatin entered the match ranked No. 29 in Tennessee.
The Commandos now shift their focus to the region tournament as the TSSAA postseason continues. Hendersonville's district-leading record positions the team for a strong seed heading into region play.
Gallatin's next scheduled game is Tuesday, Oct. 20, against the Lawson Lightning out of Nashville.
