Hendersonville residents can drop off unused or expired prescription medications for free, anonymous disposal Saturday, Oct. 24, at TriStar Hendersonville Medical Center.
The collection runs from 9 to 11 a.m. at the hospital, 355 New Shackle Island Road, Sumner County Source reported. TriStar Health staff, volunteers and uniformed law enforcement officers will be on site to collect the medications.
The event is part of HCA Healthcare's national Crush the Crisis initiative. The program partners with local law enforcement to support the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration's (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. HCA Healthcare said the initiative aims to educate communities on the risk of medication misuse while providing a safe way to dispose of prescriptions left over from previous procedures or other medical visits.
The disposal is anonymous. Residents do not need to provide identification or answer questions about the medications they bring in, according to HCA Healthcare.
