A wind advisory takes effect at 4 a.m. Saturday in Sumner County as remnants of Hurricane Isaias push into Middle Tennessee.

The National Weather Service Nashville office issued the wind advisory for Sumner County, including Hendersonville, in effect from 4 a.m. to 8 p.m. CDT Saturday, Oct. 10. East winds of 15 to 25 mph are expected, with gusts reaching 45 mph. The agency warned that gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects, bring down tree limbs and cause scattered power outages.

A separate flood watch covers Davidson, Williamson, Rutherford and more than a dozen other Middle Tennessee counties from late Friday night through Sunday morning. Sumner County is not included in the flood watch, but the weather service expects 1 to 3 inches of rain across the broader region, with locally higher amounts possible.

Rain is forecast to move into southern Middle Tennessee before sunrise Saturday and spread north through the early morning, according to WSMV 4. The steadiest, most widespread rainfall is expected through the first half of Saturday. WSMV meteorologist Stefano DiPietro said major flooding is not expected, but "ponding on roads and minor flooding in 'flood prone' areas will be possible with heavy downpours."

Brief tornadoes are also possible. The weather service warned of spin-up tornadoes, brief twisters that can develop quickly within rain bands tied to tropical systems, The Tennessean reported. Drought conditions across the region may increase flash flooding risk because dry, hardened ground absorbs less rain, allowing water to run off and collect in low-lying areas.

The NWS Hendersonville forecast calls for showers Saturday with a high of 73 degrees, showers Saturday night with a low of 61 degrees and a chance of showers Sunday with a high of 74 degrees.

Isaias, pronounced ees-ah-EE-ahs, is the first hurricane of the 2026 Atlantic season. The storm was a Category 2 hurricane with 110 mph winds as of Friday morning and was expected to make landfall near Pensacola, Florida, on Friday evening before weakening as it tracks north through the Tennessee Valley.

Off-and-on showers will continue Saturday night into early Sunday, but the heaviest rain should be finished by then. Conditions are expected to clear Monday, with sunshine and highs in the 80s returning to the area.
