Hendersonville's defense smothered Summit for 21 second-half yards Friday, Oct. 2, sealing a 14-7 road win that pushed the Commandos to 5-2.

Now comes a bye week, then the game Sumner County fans have circled: a Region 6-5A trip to Station Camp at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16.

Senior Ayden Meadows scored both Hendersonville touchdowns against the Spartans, including a 1-yard run early in the third quarter that proved to be the difference, Main Street Media of Tennessee reported. The Commandos limited Summit to three possessions after halftime, spoiling the Spartans' homecoming.

The win extended a four-game streak for Hendersonville. After a 1-2 start that included losses to Gallatin and Page, the Commandos reeled off wins over Rossview, Hunters Lane, Portland and Summit. They enter the bye at 2-0 in region play.

The Commando Football program's social media account called the matchup with Station Camp a key region game.

Station Camp, meanwhile, heads into its own bye at 2-5 overall and 0-1 in Region 6-5A after a 52-35 loss to Beech on Oct. 2. The Bison were shorthanded. Head coach Chris Bain told Main Street Media his team was missing an estimated 11 starters that night.

The absences did not stop quarterback Colton Overbey from putting up over 300 yards and four scores against Beech. Slot receiver Cayden Moore added 194 receiving yards.

"That dam's gonna break sooner or later, and when it does I don't want to be the team that goes against us," Bain said after the Beech loss.

For Hendersonville, a win at Station Camp would push the Commandos to 3-0 in region play. For the Bison, it is a chance to get healthy and pick up a first region win at home.
